The Buttermarket is Redruth Revival CIC’s flagship project — a historic collection of Grade II listed buildings given a new lease of life as Cornwall’s first food hall and a hub for food, independent businesses, creativity and community.

Built between 1825 and 1826 as part of Redruth’s market complex, the buildings were once full of traders, produce and conversation. Today, that market spirit continues through six independent kitchens, creative businesses, retail spaces and a year-round programme of events.

At the heart of the Buttermarket is a simple idea: give independent businesses the space, support and audience they need to grow. From new food concepts and kitchen start-ups to makers and creative businesses, the Buttermarket provides an affordable place to test ideas, build a following and become part of Redruth’s growing independent scene.

The Buttermarket’s profit is reinvested into the building and Redruth Revival’s wider regeneration, heritage and community work. The independents’ kitchens keep their profits; anything the Buttermarket makes goes back into our projects.

And while the Buttermarket is a destination in its own right, it is part of something bigger. It plays a role in bringing more people into the town centre, igniting Redruth’s night-time scene, and being a greenhouse for local talent and independent businesses to put down roots across the town.
