Redruth was once known as a busy trading centre thanks to the town’s bustling markets –so popular that they were recognised by various monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth I!
The Buttermarket, originally built in 1825, played a huge part in developing Redruth’s identity as a market town and for many decades was a popular meat market. The Buttermarket’s history and heritage has been front and centre during the design and restoration of the site, with many historical features still intact or stylishly revitalised.
